We truly believe that investing in our clients is easy. It is easy when we know that there is a need for it and when it will lead to continued reliable service. When we do invest in a piece of equipment, expanding our office, adding production space, or hiring additional team members -  careful consideration and planning go into each of these pieces. With that being said, we invested in another waterjet machine! We decided to invest in a new waterjet for many reasons. Let's take a closer look into why we made this decision.
The definition of capacity, well, it can vary. In manufacturing, it means how much space and manpower there is available to produce a product. One of the questions our clients ask us is if we have enough capacity to run their project so they will have it in their hands on the date they need it. In this post, we will review what capacity means to us and in turn what it means for you.
When a client reaches out to their project managers, they have a product they need to protect. It is quite obviously our job to ensure that this happens - effectively and efficiently. In designing a returnable package for a customer, there are many factors that come into play. Our project managers need to take things like the weight of the part, whether the part has class A surfaces, how long the returnable packaging program is expected to be in place, and what the application might be. When we talk about applications, we are referring to how the returnable packaging will be utilized. For example, will it be used in a WIP (work in process) application or will the pack be in transit packed on a truck for shipment perhaps.  All of the above are just a few of the many things our project managers take into consideration prior to getting a quote prepared for review.
